Connection joints
Bolted, grouted, interlocking and tie-rod types.
Bolted Corner Plate
Corner posts of stacked modules are drawn together through a cast steel connector plate with high-strength bolts. Accessible from inside the module, so any joint can be inspected or re-torqued years later.
- Fastest on site, minutes per corner
- Fully reversible & inspectable
- No wet trades or weather delay
- Most common in steel modular
Grouted Sleeve Splice
Rebar from the upper precast element drops into a steel sleeve in the lower element. Non-shrink grout is pumped in and locks the bars with shear keys, giving the continuity of a monolithic pour.
- Monolithic-grade load path
- Strong in tension and bending
- Hidden inside the wall
- Used in precast concrete mid-rise
Welded Gusset Node
Factory-welded gusset plates stiffen beam-to-column nodes in controlled jigs, so every weld is inspected under shop conditions instead of on a muddy site.
- Highest stiffness per pound
- Shop-QC’d, 100% visual + NDT
- Frame arrives pre-assembled
- Factory only
Post-Tensioned Tie Rod
High-strength rods run the full height of stacked modules and are tensioned with couplers. Shear is carried by cone inserts, and tension keeps the stack clamped against uplift in wind and seismic events.
- Resists uplift and overturning
- Adjustable after settlement
- Compact, fits inside the wall
- High-wind & seismic zones
Interlocking Shear Key
Dovetail keys cast into adjacent concrete floor and wall edges drop into each other as the module is craned in, self-aligning the unit within millimetres before any bolt is touched.
- Self-locating during the crane set
- Transfers lateral shear directly
- Tolerant of small site errors
- Self-locking connector family
Foundation Anchor Plate
Cast-in anchor bolts in the foundation meet base plates welded to each corner post. Leveling nuts let installers dial the module true before final grouting under the plate.
- Resists sliding and uplift
- Works on slab, piers or basement
- Leveling built in
- Every module
Rainscreen Rail Clip
Thermally broken rails bolt to the steel frame. Finish panels hang on stainless clips, so a panel can be swapped, repaired or restyled without touching the structure.
- Change the look in a day
- Ventilated cavity keeps walls dry
- Panel-by-panel repair
- What makes Stratum, Stratum
Moment Brace Frame
Diagonal steel braces or moment-resisting nodes inside each module wall form a rigid box. Combined with the concrete diaphragm floor, the module behaves like a small braced building on its own.
- Each module is self-stable on the truck
- Predictable earthquake behaviour
- Lets glass walls go big
- Seismic Zones A–F
